158) What progress in 2011?

by Gail on December 22, 2011

It was a mistake, I think, to look back at our Christmas photos from 2010. In 2010, we made a big push for the holiday, as so many people do when building or renovating a home. The main floor was essentially finished:

The living room was furnished.

I thought we worked so hard in 2011, but the photos (of the interior at least) don’t show much of a difference from last Christmas to this. Here are the roughed-in stairs from 2010, though:

And, in 2011:

Perhaps the bulk of the work was outside. In any event, to make myself feel better, here’s a small recap of our 2011 progress in photos:

I did the stonework on the entryway pillars:

The major hardscaping was done:

The driveway was poured:

That was a lovely overview of 2011. A lot of work that is ‘behind’ the finishes.

No mention of the roof-garden or the (substantially) finished studio, though – a great deal of progress there.

I see much progress when looking at the photos from christmas 2010 compared to when we were there last week… Not all necessarily in finishes, or carpentry, etc… but the most noticeable, to me anyways, was the decorating progress – quilts, photos, etc. The general organization has come a long way, along with much of the finishing that you’ve completed. Give yourself credit!

You’ve done so much even since Tom and I were there for our visit in July.
It’s so nice to follow your progress having seen it in person. I love the way you’ve hung the quilts in the downstairs level. They bring such warmth into the space.
The new railings look great too and make the space look so much larger.
Wishing you and your family a happy, healthy and productive New Year!
All the best my friend, Heather
